Football: The rising reputation of Newbury Park sophomore QB Cameron Rising
- Share via
It’s already a good year for quarterbacks in Ventura County and nearby areas, but it’s time to add Newbury Park sophomore Cameron Rising to the list of rising prospects.
The 6-foot-3 sophomore served notice last week in a 58-34 win over Agoura.
He completed 13 of 17 passes for 388 yards and six touchdowns. He ran for 148 yards and one touchdown.
“He is pretty special,” assistant coach Doug Dagan said. “He is only gonna keep getting better and better.”
It’s going to be an interesting season-long debate about who belongs at the top of the quarterback list with the likes of Max Gilliam of Thousand Oaks, Tristan Gebbia of Calabasas, Matt Corral of Oaks Christian, Darius Vines of St. Bonaventure, Jake Constantine of Camarillo and Rising.
And watch out for senior Tanner Darling of Simi Valley. He passed for 459 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Righetti last week. He has passed for 1,014 yards and nine touchdowns in three games.
