Byron Scott adds to the belief that this is Kobe Bryant’s final NBA season

Reporting from New York — The foreshadowing continues for Kobe Bryant, stronger and stronger that this is his last season.

Lakers Coach Byron Scott was the latest to drop a few breadcrumbs, saying he spoke to Bryant a few days ago and picked up clues that this would be Bryant’s 20th and final NBA season.

“That’s the first time he had hinted to me that this might be his last year,” Scott said Sunday before the Lakers played the New York Knicks.

Scott wouldn’t specifically reveal what he and Bryant discussed.

“Bottom line is, he said this might be his last year,” Scott said.

Bryant, 37, is making $25 million, but shooting only 31% overall and 21% from three-point range.

Bryant said Saturday that if he were forced to make a decision now, he’d call it quits when the Lakers are presumably done April 13, the date of their regular-season finale against Utah at Staples Center.

But Bryant left the door open to return and has said he would not make an official decision until after this season.
