Unbeaten fighters romp on Golovkin-Monroe undercard

Boxing put on an entertaining and fast-paced undercard to a pair of world championship co-main events Saturday at the Forum in Inglewood as four undefeated fighters remained that way, with three of them winning by knockouts.

Before middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29 knockouts) of Kazakhstan entered the ring to fight Willie Monroe Jr. (19-1, 6 KOs) of Rochester, N.Y., or flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez (42-0, 36 KOs) of Nicaragua battled Mexico’s Edgar Sosa (51-8, 30 KOs), Tijuana’s Ivan Morales (28-0, 16 KOs) -- the younger brother of former world champions Diego and Erik Morales -- stopped Mexico City’s Danny Flores (14-7-1) 47 seconds into the eighth and final round of a bantamweight bout.

Ruslan Madiyev (5-0, 3 KOs), who is from the same city in Kazakhstan as Golovkin, opened the preliminaries with a second-round knockout of Houston’s Julio Sanchez (1-2). Pedro Duran (11-0, 8 KOs) of Paramount also remained unbeaten when his six-round super-featherweight bout with Daniel Perales (5-2) was stopped with 10 seconds left in the final round.

In a six-round matchup of female boxers, super-flyweight Seniesa Estrada (4-0) of Los Angeles won a unanimous six-round decision over a game Carly Batey (4-5-2) of San Diego.
