Olympic officials discuss major reforms

Olympic leaders gathered Wednesday to finalize recommendations that could alter the landscape of the Games.
The International Olympic Committee’s executive board will spend three days discussing the “Olympic Agenda 2020” in Montreux, Switzerland. The proposed reforms touch upon a range of issues.
IOC officials want to revamp the bidding process to make the Games more affordable for host cities.
In addition, there is a growing desire to create an Olympic television channel and bring more flexibility to choosing sports that are included in the Games.
“The moment has come to transform the ideas into projects and to decisions,” IOC President Thomas Bach recently told the Associated Press.
The IOC’s full membership will receive the proposals at a December session in Monaco.
This week’s agenda will also include talks about granting recognition to Kosovo and suspending Gambia.
