USC football recruiting: Number crunching in 2016
- Share via
USC can again welcome a full 25-player football recruiting class in 2016. As of Tuesday, six of those scholarships are already spoken for and at least three more are on track to be filled by the 2015 season opener.
Here’s how:
USC has received commitments from six players: tight end Isaac Garcia, running back Melquise Stovall, offensive linemen Nathan Smith and Frank Martin and linebackers Daelin Hayes and Mique Juarez.
Anaheim Servite High offensive lineman Clayton Johnston and Gardena Serra receiver Deontay Burnett are what are known as blueshirts in the 2015 class. They are non-recruited players who will be awarded scholarships after a few days of training camp. Those scholarships count against 2016.
Taylor McNamara announced last month that he would transfer from Oklahoma to USC. McNamara would be eligible to play immediately under the NCAA’s graduate transfer exception.
If McNamara is awarded a scholarship, he could also count as a blueshirt and take a scholarship from the 2016 class.
