You can get a break on room rates at a newly renovated hotel in Maui for stays through Dec. 15.
The Hotel Wailea, fresh from a $15-million makeover, is offering a Celebration Package that gives a 20% discount on rooms and a free bottle of bubbly.
The property began life in the 1980s as the Diamond Club, a members-only resort for wealthy Japanese investors.
It changed hands in 2008 and now operates as an independently owned, 72-suite hotel.
Perched on a hillside 300 feet above the Pacific Ocean, the resort affords views not only of the Maui coastline but also of three neighboring islands.
Besides a new pool with private cabanas, the one-bedroom suites have been redone too. With 720 square feet of space, they feature separate bedroom and living areas, including kitchenettes with upscale appliances.
The contemporary design includes elements such as white oak floors and cabinetry made from Ohia wood.
The coral and limestone walls are adorned with works by local surfer-turned-artist Pete Cabrinha.
The hotel is also building an ocean-view “treehouse” in which guests can get private spa treatments within a canopy of mango trees. It is expected to open next spring.
The Celebrations Package must be booked by Dec. 6.
