I began and ended a recent trek at the Kantipur Temple House, an eco-friendly, 40-room hotel designed in traditional Nepalese style on a quiet side street in Katmandu. The charming owner aims to please, and the staff helped us with directions, changing money, taxis, etc. They offer morning yoga along with an organic breakfast buffet plus eggs to order. The rooms are spacious and clean with traditional furnishings. Fan-cooled (no air conditioning). Short walk to Garden of Dreams (yes, it is dreamy), shops and Durbar Square.
