STATE PARKS
Movie
The documentary film “The First 70” showcases a journey to visit the 70 California state parks that were slated to close because of budget cuts. The closure list includes thousands of acres of parkland and 50% of the state’s historic parks.
When, where: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the REI store in Arcadia, 214 N. Santa Anita Ave.; Wednesday at the REI store in Northridge, 18605 Devonshire St.; and Thursday at the REI store in Santa Monica, 402 Santa Monica Blvd.

HIKING

Experts will share tips on all aspects of hiking, including equipment, safety, local resources and places to go.
