Ben Vereen brings his one-man show to Las Vegas in April

Reporting from Las Vegas — For Ben Vereen, all roads lead to Las Vegas. After all, he got his Broadway start as a chorus member in a 1966 production of “Sweet Charity” at Caesars Palace.
That part introduced him to director Bob Fosse, who cast Vereen in “Pippin,” earning him a Tony Award during its turn on Broadway.

Now Vereen returns to Las Vegas for two nights of his one-man show April 18-19 at the Suncoast Showroom, where he sings, dances and shows off his acting chops.

The 68-year-old Vereen spent more than 35 years entertaining, earning accolades as “Entertainer of the Year,” “Rising Star” and “Song and Dance Star” from the American Guild of Variety Artists.

And while he’s perhaps best known for playing Chicken George in “Roots” and Louis Armstrong in “Louis Armstrong — Chicago Style,” Vereen most recently appeared in Chris Rock’s “Top Five.”
