Reporting from Las Vegas — Fly to new heights with Dad and show him he’s a superhero with a new contest from Vegas Indoor Skydiving.
The self-proclaimed first indoor skydiving attraction in the United States wants fans to submit short stories about why dad is a superhero on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SuperDad. Submit a photo too and post them by June 17.
The winner, selected June 19, gets a free flight for two, a DVD and a photo of the event.
Even those who don’t win can still score a free pass for fathers by purchasing one flight and saying, “My dad is a superhero,” through June 22.
So how does all this indoor flying happen? The facility uses a 1,000-horsepower motor attached to a propeller from a DC-3 airplane to create a wind tunnel. Guests wear a flight suit, earplugs, goggles and a helmet before entering the 12-by-22-foot wind tunnel.
Of course, there’s a training session about how to “fly” without an airplane or a parachute before you jump in. With practice, you can learn to fly all the way to the top of the wind tunnel.
Single flight tickets start at $75, with repeat flights on the same day available for $40 each. A 15-minute block for two to five participants is available for $350, and a five-flight package for one person costs $200.
