Raytheon Co., the Lexington, Mass.-based diversified defense contractor, said its second-quarter earnings rose 11% to $110.8 million, reflecting a rise in its appliance and electronics businesses and lower taxes. Strong sales in its appliance units, which include the Amana Refrigeration and Speed Queen lines, offset a sales decline in its Beech Aircraft twin-engine planes and its energy services.
